Sikagard®-701 W

Micro-emulsion Water Repellent Impregnation

Sikagard® -701W is a water dilutable impregnation based on aqueous solution of methyl siliconates. It penetrates well into the open pores of the substrate, providing water repellency, while still allowing water vapour diffusion in both directions.
Suitable for use in hot and tropical climatic conditions.

Usage

As an impregnation for mineral substrates including concrete and cementitious render, natural and reconstituted stone, aerated concrete, brickwork (non vitrified brick), fibre cement, mineral paint coatings etc. against driving rain and water ingress.

Waiting time to overcoating

  • Can be overcoated with water / solvent based polymer paints -contact the paint Overcoatability manufacturer for details.
  • Sikagard®-701W can be used as a water based primer under Sikagard® or SikaColor® Emulsion or solvent based coating. Penetration of water is thus prevented even if the top coat is damaged.
  • Waiting time: minimum 5 hours, maximum 1 week.

Curing treatment

Sikagard® -701W does not require any special curing but must be protected from rain for at least 3 hours at +20°C.

Consumption

Dependent on the absorbency of the substrate and the required penetration depth,~ 150 g/m2 (diluted) per coat. Apply 2 -3 coats “wet on wet”.

Application steps

MIXING

Thinning:
Sikagard® -701W can be thinned with clean water up to 1:3 and then thoroughly stirred.
 

 

APPLICATION

Sikagard® -701W is applied using low pressure spray, brush or roller, in a single pass, working from top to bottom taking care not to let the product run.
Apply subsequent coats “wet on wet”.

Pot Life
Only thin as much material as can be used in one working day.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

Clean all tools and application equipment with clean water immediately after use.
Hardened / cured material can only be mechanically removed.
